NORTHERN NEVADA TECHNICAL THEATRE OLYMPICS & THESPIAN LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
Wooster Players participated in the Northern Nevada Tech Olympics and Thespian Leadership Conference at Spanish Springs High School. They competed as a team in a variety of Technical Theatre Olympic style games where they did various things such as Lighting, Sound, Construction, Costuming, and Props. Individually, we scored very well in each event AND took home the overall Championship 1st Place Trophy (The Golden Drill)! We also attended several workshops in both technical theatre, team building, leadership, and advocacy.

We had a team of 5 competing…Tyler Tennant, Adam Dahir, Emma Boyden, Macie White & Sierra Vice. Tyler Tennant took 1st in Lighting and Props. Adam Dahir took 2nd in sound and 1st in the Surprise challenge which was Tool Identification. Sierra Vice & Macie White took 3rd in Quick Costume Change, Emma Boyden took 3rd in Rigging. Overall, we took 1st place as mentioned above.
The event was sponsored by the Northern Nevada Thespians which are a part of the International Thespian Society (a division of the Educational Theatre Association). This is the same organization which sponsors competition at both the Regional, State, and International Level which we have competed in for the last few years.
The Technical Theatre Olympics have been a part of the Southern NV Thespians for quite some time. This was the first attempt to hold the event in the North. It was a huge success and it gave the students an opportunity to form relationships with theatre students from all of Northern Nevada.
From the kids…
They did much better than they expected...
They made great friends and really had a blast…
They learned some great skills from those working in professional theatre…
We believe that our incredible sense of ensemble and pride in being from Wooster contributed to our success. Our students just really enjoy & support each other and that’s ultimately half the battle.
